I’m finally getting back into podcasting again! It has been something I have missed so much since I had to let it go. I had an Apple themed tech podcast called Everyday Robots with a good friend of mine Mark Fransen. Each week we would chat about the Apple news of the week or I would interview people in the Apple community. I edited and produced the show and we made over a hundred episodes. I loved it and I went from listening and enjoying podcasts to making one of my own. But over time changing jobs and time commitments had made it very hard to keep going. It was incredibly hard to give it up. But I knew I wasn’t saying goodbye to podcasting forever.

Making a show with a co-host requires discipline and a commitment to a schedule. Being in a day job for 40hrs a week with random days off makes this very hard. It’s not impossible but very close. Making a show with just me and guests are even harder. Booking and not knowing too far in advance when you can record is not a way to do things.

But despite all these circumstances I have found a way to jump back into the podcasting space. Having made and produced over a hundred episodes most with at least an hour of length I had lots of experience. So when I realized my friend Charlie Chapman was looking for a potential podcast editor I was eager to chat about it. He also makes a guest based Apple themed tech show called Launched. We had a really fun conversation and he was into me taking over the edit.

Taking over the edit would let me get back into the podcasting world and let Charlie spend time on other aspects of the show. It would let me not have to worry about scheduling or my day job getting in the way. I can edit on my own time and send the finished product by a deadline. So everyone wins.

I got the audio and opened Logic again for the first time in a while and was soon left with a happy feeling. It felt good to be back editing and working on a podcast. I know editing can be an acquired thing whether it’s audio, video, music or more. But I really enjoy it, you get to take a raw conversation and help shape it into something more succinct for the listener. To help bring out what it’s trying to say in a more clear path.

As this is posted the first episode I have worked on is out. I could not be happier to work with Charlie and given this opportunity. I get to edit one of my favorite tech podcasts and I am so excited for whats to come. You should check it out too! It’s episode 46: The iOS App Icon Book - Michael Flarup.
